Muslim Journal opened in October of 1975 as a weekly newspaper that evolved out of Muhammad Speaks newspaper, the voice of the Nation of Islam led by the late Hon. Elijah Muhammad.

Making the transition to Islam as it is practiced by 1.2 billion people around the world, the Muslim Journal reflects the Muslim new leadership of Imam W. Deen Mohammed, son of the Hon. Elijah Muhammad, and mentor to Malcolm X (Al Hajji Malik Al Shabazz).

Muslim Journal is published every Friday morning. It circulates throughout the United States and the Caribbean Islands and is sold via vendors, as well as sold by paid subscriptions increasing its circulation to parts of Saudi Arabia, Nigeria, South Africa and England.
